As the year draws to an end what better than to celebrate the passing of another year of the Warwickshire 7s than with a Christmas get-together and festive meal at the Plough @ Eathorpe. It only seems like yesterday since the last one. The landlords Anton & Gaynor have done a sterling job looking after us and we look forward to their continued support in 2010. 2009 has been a very busy year for us, members of the group have enjoyed a number of excursions including touring adventures to Cornwall, Isle of Wight Blat, Stoneleigh Show, The New Forest, Cotswolds, Swiss Alps, The Italian Lakes, Stelvio, Ferrari Museum and numerous other local events. We also welcomed a number of new members to the area meeting this year, The regulars being Andrew Duffield (CSR), Brian Tear and partner Verweit (R500), Craig Bramley and partner Fran (Supersport). Our Area Representative Kevin Scott replaced his famous black and gold Caterham 7 x-flow and with the help of other area members; Peter Gay, Colin Swinson, Stuart Golding by rebuilding a Roadsport 150bhp Sigma 1.6 Caterham. Andy Wells also replaced his last Caterham 7 by building himself a new Roadsport 150bhp Sigma 1.6 Caterham as well. As tradition dictates, at our Christmas meals we have an auction to help cover the running costs of our area meeting and the costs of the Warwickshire 7s website which has had over 8000 hits from people all over the world in just over a year. All other profits raised go to Nuke the Leuk, the Lotus 7 Clubs chosen charity, The Leukaemia Research Fund. I am glad to say we have managed to raise another £ 150.00 to go towards such a worthy cause. During the auctions a low level jack lifted AR Kevin to new heights, a bidding frenzy erupted over a bottle of Whiskey (not sure what that says about our members!) and Snapper eventually did return to Caterham ownership when his partner Mo won the bidding on a Caterham R500. However, he will have to make do with the M&S remote control version for the moment. For next year there is a lot to look forward to in 2010. A number of tours and events are being talked about including excursions into Europe. Words by Jamie Jones
