NOW SOLD - Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (964) 1990 For Sale - £ 14,995.00

Porsche-911-Carrera-964-For-Sale-Picture-1

Porsche 911 Carrera 4 (964) 1990

1990 'G' Plate originally, now with unique number plate C4PKR (Carrera 4 'PorKeR')

Owned by me for last 6 years and lovingly looked after and much improved, and fully maintained to the highest standard possible. I have a folder full of the cars history with every receipt.

The car is in fantastic condition and as such was invited to be shown at the 2008 Autosport Show as part of the Pistonheads Exhibition

90,800 miles, and used only as a second car and for touring, mainly in the French Alps, where the torquey 3.6 Litre engine and 4 wheel drive are completely at home. I have never used the car on a trackday, or when the roads are salted

The 964 was built based upon the learning from the 959 supercar and was Porsche's first 4 wheel drive production car. It was 85% different from the outgoing 3.2 Carrera. It comprises Porsches penultimate air cooled engine – and as a consequence the sound is incredible

The car is a real head turner, and an incredible pleasure to own and drive. If you would like to experience the prestige, quality and driving experience of the Porsche marque, then this is the car for you

Specification

Guards Red, treated with Zymol by myself and the previous owner

Velour/ Leather interior with semi-electrically operated sports seats, giving improved lateral support

Fully operable sunroof

Climate Control (non air-conditioned)

Remote Alarm/Immobiliser (Thatcham approved)

17" Cup Wheels

250 horsepower, 229 lbft torque, 3.6 Litre engine. In real world tests this car did 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and the standing ¼ mile in 13.9 seconds (source - Enthusiasts Companion by Adrian Streather)

The 964 engine is a piece of Porsche wizardry – Twin Sparking means you get the most out of every drop of fuel – the lower part of the engine was considered so strong that parts of it are still used today in the GT3

5 speed manual transmission (G64 type) with permanent 4 wheel drive with torque distributed 31% to the front wheels and 69% to the rear (under normal conditions). The torque is varied by the PDAS system (Porsche Dynamische Allrad Steuerung), which, by means of electro/hydraulically actuated interaxle and transverse locks can vary the torque to the corner where it's needed, performing fantastic anti-spin control

The suspension was radically upgraded in the 964 using struts shock absorbers and coil springs

The brakes are solid discs all round, and are fully hydraulically boosted (as opposed to the traditional vacuum boost used in the Carrera 2) giving improved performance and excellent feedback to the driver

The steering is power assisted again delivering superb feedback to the driver

The bodyshell was made from fully galvanized steel – meaning excellent corrosion resistance, and this is fully reflected in this car

Speed operated rear spoiler which is in perfect working order deploying at 50 mph allowing for improved cooling and improved rear end grip at higher speeds

Top Speed 163 MPH

On a steady motorway run this car can do an incredible 25 MPG – I've done 350 miles on a tank (which holds 77 litres)

I have decided to sell this car as I would like to experience ownership of a Caterham 7, and although I 'own' the car, have more considered myself the current custodian, hence spending nearly £8000 pounds on improving and maintaining it over the last 6 years. I'm a true Porsche enthusiast and as such will be very sad to see this car go to a new owner.

For more detail, there are a further 53 photos and 1 video clip at my picasa site. You can get the sound of this amazing car as well as just the looks.

Priced at £ 14,995 including the number plate for which someone offered me £2500 at a Porsche meeting just over a year ago (Silverstone Classic)
